Genesis of the Project

Living in London, I first cycled from London to Rouen in March 2018, after a cycling event arriving in Brighton on a Friday afternoon. I was expected in Normandy on Saturday morning but it was impossible to go back to London in time to get a Eurostar to France. So I decided to cycle to Newhaven instead, and take the ferry to Dieppe before cycling to my parents in Rouen. The adventure involved freezing cold temperatures, icy rain and snow. However the sky was sometimes clear-enough to see the Milky Way above the pitch-black French countryside… it was an exhausting experience yet very ecstatic.

I realised that it was the fastest and cheapest way to get to Rouen after leaving the office in London at 6pm. As a huge cycling enthusiast, I got used to cycling back to Rouen, my hometown, to spend the week-end. The idea of the challenge arose after a couple of trips, realising that 13 hours was feasible but 12hours required a lot of efforts and organisation.

To date, I have never made it in less than 12 hours. But I continue trying so if you take the challenge, you might see me on the ferry
